先週の嬉しい嬉しい辛勝から一転、悔しい悔しい惜敗を喫した。点を取るのも実力、失点するのも実力だ。

試合は、日頃の練習の成果を表すステージであり、当然、勝つためにあるもの。エントリーして同じ土俵に立ったならば、人数や学年がどうのこうのは言い訳に過ぎず、単に実力の差が結果に出るだけ。監督者は、勝つために必要な人選やポジショニングを考慮し、臨む。この点に議論の余地はない。その上で、勝てれば子供達が頑張った成果であり、負ければ指導力不足の至りとなるわけだ。今回の試合では悔し泣きをしている子供が何人かいたが、監督者として責任を痛感している。
　
一方、筆者には一親としての立場がある。子供が活躍することによりチームの勝利に貢献したい。親だったら誰だってそうだろう。しかし、子供達の上達は週末の練習だけで見違えるようになるものではない。ボールを触れば触るほど、バットを振れば振るほどに上達するものであり、いかに子供達のモチベーションをキープしながら、正しい練習を積み重ねられるかが鍵だと考えている。

勝つことは難しい。それでも試合には勝たねばならない。一つでも多く勝てるよう、コーチとしても親としても練習方法を考えていかねばと思っている。
